The courage to push the pause button
Yes indeed, it takes a lot of courage to take yourself off autopilot, to push that pause button and to take THAT break.
The kind of break I am talking about is a quality break. It is summer and we have all had to face the challenge of living our lives during a pandemic and it is not over yet. Let’s hope that it is not going to get any worse. We have had to come to terms with the idea of Home office, of having to be constantly online, of having to absorb many different professional and personal challenges, let’s face it, it hasn't been easy.
In short, there are enough reasons to take a quality break. One, in which you are courageous enough to put your desire to get all the usual stuff done on hold.
Once the pause button has been pressed take a deep breath, pat yourself on the shoulder and say well done!
How you continue is entirely up to you. You can push the pause button in so many different ways. At the end of the day it is about treating yourself to an emotional, physical and spiritual rejuvenation. It is up to you to find the right way. For some of you pushing the pause button might mean that you allow yourself to enjoy free time, enjoy the feeling of having no obligations, no time table, no goals, whilst for some others of you it could mean that you are still doing things, just different things.
In whatever way suits you best, take the courage to push that pause button with a good conscience and enjoy every minute of it. Do it for the sake of tanking energy, boosting your creativity and being happy.
By the way, it is time to stop thinking about all those things which might have not worked out in the way in which you wanted them. Take the courage and put an end to those regrets. Consider them as lessons learned and do it better next time.
Your summer break is just one opportunity to push the pause button. Take the courage to create regular “push the pause button” opportunities for yourself.
So enjoy and remember as Marshall Goldsmith, the renowned American leadership coach says: “Life is Good”. We often tend to forget this, don’t we?
