Ready to "courage up" after your summer break?
This is the time of year now when most of us have had the opportunity to take a summer break, or at least to slow down for a while, to tank up on some energy and to get ready to achieve our goals and objectives for the rest of the year.
Now the question is how to proceed in order to progress and move forward? You have the choice and can opt to realize your career goals for the rest of the year from a status quo and comfort perspective, or from a “courage up” perspective. What I mean by “couraging up“ is to upgrade your courage levels, to muster up your courage energy and examine the goals you have set and the way you are intending to tackle them.
You can “courage up” in many different ways. Asking yourself daring questions as listed below is certainly a valid one:
Are the goals you have set influenced by uncertainty, fear and limitations ?
If yes, which fears are sitting in the driver's seat? What or who gives them the right to exist?
What would you lose if you were to go along with these “comfort goals”?
How would it look if you were to “courage up” those goals and outline the biggest and boldest version of them?
Which new perspectives and horizons would you open up for yourself?
What would you gain by doing so?
In addition “couraging up” will give you the opportunity to go deep and to get more transparency on all those relevant aspects such as:
Understanding the “Why” and motivation behind your goals.
Finding out your inner beliefs and values.
Considering and getting to know your entire self.
Examining the way you make decisions, set up strategies, solve problems and so on.
Reflecting upon the way you have been developing skills and expanding your know-how.
Understanding how you have defined success for yourself so far. How would you define it if you were more courageous?
“Couraging up” will enable you to confront those fears. It will allow yourself to forgo what is the norm and status quo, to set the bar higher, to expand your horizons and to draw from the un-known. It will enable you to assess the risks and even to decide to take some of them – taking calculated risks nurtures your progress and sustainability.
In short “couraging up” could be the key to your fulfilment and happiness. At the end of the day the ultimate question is: What defines a fulfilled and rich life?
