How about a year end reflection from the heart?
The year end reflection is a special one. For most people it is associated with the unique excitement that only a new year can bring - 365 new days waiting to be lived and numerous new stories waiting to be written.
Now what usually happens during the reflection process is that people put the focus very much on rationally driven questions such as: What went well? What did not? What can they do better? While most people opt to drive the reflection process rationally, they forgo the precious research and learnings that they could have discovered had they opted for a more emotional approach.
At the end of the day our emotions are essential contributors to our actions and behaviour - they are a true source of power!
So let’s give your emotions the focus and attention they deserve at the end of this year and add a ❤️reflection from the heart❤️ to your usual reflection process. Let’s make it a wholistic reflection process this year end! As Tony Robins says: “Get out of your head and harness your heart”.
In order to get out of your head, add questions driven by your heart such as:
How did you feel while going through e.g. the accomplishment of a goal?
At which stages did you experience more positive emotions such as happiness, joy, curiosity, excitement, passion, courage etc?
What made you laugh the most this year?
Which achievements were more connected with gratitude and appreciation?
How did you feel these emotions?
Which parts of your body were the most involved?
Where did you feel negative emotions such as anger, disappointment, fear, guilt, shame, frustration, loneliness etc?
What was their effect? Where in your body did you feel them most?
How did you cope with these emotions?
With whom did you share these emotions?
If you created a kind of emotional diagram for your year, how would it look?
How balanced would your emotional status be?
Which emotions would be the most strongly represented? Why? Where would those highs and lows be?
How did you make your decisions this year? How did your head and heart work together? Were they a good team most of the time or were they rather in competition?
What is the main message this ❤️ reflection from the heart ❤️ gives you as a guide as to how to approach the new year?
What is the most important thing that you have learned in regard to dealing with your emotions in general this year?
Enjoy this emotional journey through your 2021 and make it a heartfelt and courageous 2022!
