Which types of courage inspired my clients to move forward this year?
As the year is coming to an end, I took a little time to reflect on the different types of courage that had actually helped my clients to move forward over the past 12 months.
No matter which aspects of the new orientation process and the process of moving forward I studied, what applied in all cases was what Anaïs Nin, the French born author had said: “Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage”. Other factors of course also influenced my clients, but it was clear to see that the extent of their courage had reduced or increased their ability to move forward accordingly.
Here are some examples that inspired them to move forward:
The courage to welcome and recognize the fact that a new orientation phase was a unique opportunity to create a positive impact for their future.
The courage to conduct an in-depth study of themselves and thereby realize their entire resource pool.
The courage to stand for who they are and to stick to their true values.
The courage to think “out of box” and to open their perspectives as far as possible.
The courage to get out of their comfort zone.
The courage to be extremely curious, to get out and to discover, to search and to be inspired.
The courage to embrace the “Disruptive”, the “Unexpected”, the “Impactful” and the “Different”.
The courage to think creatively and to eliminate “the must find a job soon” scenario.
The courage to set clear goals and objectives and to follow a clear strategy as to how to reach them.
The courage to be convinced of one’s objectives, to believe so strongly that there will always be a way to achieve them and that there will always be open doors, even if it takes time.
The courage to set up a strong self-branding and marketing strategy.
The courage to set up smart networking strategies.
The courage to be persistent.
The courage to think positively.
The courage to focus 100 %.
The courage NOT to be afraid.
The courage to transform obstacles into opportunities and chances.
The courage NOT to lose one’s sense of humor and to laugh even if things get tough.
The courage to keep fit on a mental, emotional and physical level.
And what about you? Which types of courage inspired you move forward this year? Bare in mind what Ruth Gordon, the American actress once said: “ Courage is like a muscle, it is strengthened by use.” There is an entire new year in front of you, a wealth of opportunity awaits. Take the courage to…
