Vacation for your mind
Vacation for your mind
No matter how well balanced the approach you take as you go through life and as you follow your career, you are not a robot or a machine. You cannot possibly focus constantly on your progress and success. I completely understand your motives, especially those of you who are in a career transition and feeling under pressure to find a job as soon as soon as possible, however its now time to take a summer break.
By deciding to STOP, you have to mean it in every sense of the word. Treat yourself and your precious mind to some time off. Why not call it literally a “vacation for my mind”. I am sure that you deserve it.
Constantly being immersed in your daily tasks limits your stamina. For those of you in a career transition, today’s job market and the disruptive career world require thinking “out of the box”, creativity, energy and unconventional thinking, so stop to refuel, take some time off and enjoy it.
A “vacation for your mind” can be challenging, but “recharged” you will feel energized and will be ready to have a real impact on your return. Providing that you really commit to it, time off will boost your progress and motivate you to focus even more on your projects, job search or what ever you are working on. You will be more productive and you will feel more positive.
In order to rest your mind you need to switch off your “thinking machine”. Find ways to leave the stress and everyday life behind you. Turn off your devices and just be. Discover the power of living the present and enjoy what you are doing at that particular moment. I am sure that you have heard about “mindfulness”, perhaps you are even practicing it. If not you could research Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction: “Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally.” So a good time to just be.
Just be “timeless” if possible, relax and give your body and mind the opportunity to rejuvenate. Have fun and enjoy the little things.
Take the courage to put your modus to get things done on hold. Treat yourself and your mind with some time off. Enjoy life to the full and let your spirit and soul run free. It will pay off…
