Does it take courage to initiate a Courage Award?
Thursday, September 16th was a very special day for me. The time had come. We celebrated the Courage Award ceremony with the three finalists and many viewers via livestream.
For those of you who have not yet heard or read about our Courage Award initiative, I would like to take this opportunity to say a few words. The Courage Award 2021 was an initiative of takethecourage.com and bwomen - your business networkWith the "Courage Award" we celebrate entrepreneurs and businesswomen who have shown courage and progress since the COVID pandemic. We also want to inspire other women to have the courage to make progress, because courage is contagious!
For those of you who could not be part of the livestream, you can watch the award ceremony, the exciting stories of the finalists and my Courage Talk with Martina Waser, co-founder of Shavejake, here
Now does it take courage to initiate such an award? Courage is individual, therefore, I do not want to generalise, but I would like to share my personal experiences with you. I didn't need courage to develop this idea, but to believe in it and to realise it, that really took some courage! In the beginning I was alone with my idea. I had a lot of doubts and fears about developing it further. Am I eligible to initiate a courage award? Am I good enough? What if people laugh at me and do not support my idea? Such and similar questions swirled around in my head. I had the choice to courageously pursue this idea or to let myself be guided by my fears and doubts and to let it be. I chose the first alternative.
What helped me to mobilise this courage? In everything I do, the basic motivation and why I do it, the “Why“ is very decisive for me. I knew deep down that this was exactly the right initiative in these challenging times. This conviction has helped me to find the courage and to keep going. In addition, the motto "strong together" accompanies me in a lot of what I do. I sought support from my network and contacted bwomen - your business network to realise this idea together.
I am very proud today that we were able to present the Courage Award 2021. Courage does pay off!
Here is some advice to you from my experiences gained on the way:
Don't let your fears and doubts distract you from your ideas and visions.
Understand your basic motivation. Why do you want to achieve what you want to achieve?
Do what you love and do it with passion, be determined, persistent and disciplined.
"Together we are stronger and braver". Get support and realise your ideas and visions together with like-minded people.
Celebrate both the small and big successes along the way.
What about you? Which visions, goals and ideas would you like to implement? Why? How can you mobilise the necessary courage? Who can help you? Courage is simply a choice available to all of us. It is up to us to choose it. Courage is the key to change – it creates opportunities and newness! Let's talk and find out how you could move foward more courageously: Contact me
