Be inspired by “Next Generation Leaders”
Time Magazine’s “Next Generation Leaders”, produced in partnership with Rolex, features young people who have taken the lead and have had an impact on the world of politics, entertainment, fashion, science, sports and more.
“Today’s Visionaries, Tomorrow’s Future… The visionaries, luminaires and champions who push the boundaries and constantly set new standards for achievement. Leading by example, they inspire the world.” Rolex
I am always inspired as I read stories about these young unconventional leaders. They do indeed impact the world by pushing the boundaries and setting new standards. Today I would like to share some of the beliefs and principles behind their success:
Music
Ariana Grande, 24: “When you’re handed a challenge, instead of sitting there and complaining about it, why not try to make something beautiful?”
Sport/football
Chris Long, 33: “I want to squeeze every drop out of my potential, as far as affecting the world around me.”
Chess
Hou Yifan, 24: “The best way to bring about broader change is to focus on your own self-improvement. You have to be the hero of yourself.”
Environment
Kerstin Forsberg, 33: “It’s impossible to solve an environmental issue or change in a day. It takes a lot of time, effort, resources, commitment and perseverance. That’s what drives us forward.”
Activism
Sonita Alizadeh, 21: “I want to help them (her friends) to realize they have the power to be who they want to be.”
Writing/acting
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 31: “Telling anyone to stay positive and believe in themselves.” Collaboration is the key to her creative process…”
Sport/rock climbing
Ashima Shiraishi, 17: “She is the best female rock climber in the world. Could she become the best rock climber ever?”
“In climbing, gender really doesn’t matter. You’re just facing the wall. Even if you’re bigger or smaller than someone, you’re tackling the same thing. It’s just your determination and focus and dedication, and that’s what makes you stronger.”
Politics
Kevin Kühnert, 28: “What we need is to remember what we stand for.”
Take the courage to learn from these young leaders and how they move forward. Be inspired by their persistence, commitment, creativity and self-belief. Like them, start to push the boundaries, set new standards and think outside the box …
PS. It is not about inspiring you to become a world leader, but more about encouraging you to believe in yourself and your abilities. Your strong commitment, perseverance and the use of your full potential will enable you to move forward.
