A little “Parkour” attitude would certainly help you to move forward…
“Diving from roof to roof, vaulting recklessly over the staircase railing to the depths below, landing as lithe as a cat to mount the next house wall and with a somersault continuing on its course. In its modern form, the roots of the “Parkour” originated in the early 20th century from a Parisian suburb. To the “Parkour” no obstacle is too high, no space too wide and no wall too steep.” Anka Refghi, Editor-in- Chief of the “Zürcher Bahnhofstrasse Magazin”.
I love the way in which the “World Freerunning Parkour Federation (WFPF)” defines “Parkour”:
“…Parkour, fundamentally, is a philosophy, and a way a life. It’s a way of looking at any environment and believing in your heart that there is no obstacle in life that cannot be overcome. Everyone is a unique individual, so no two people will come up with the exact same solution, but there is a “way through” for us all. They believe that through camaraderie, self-expression and service to others, there is no obstacle that cannot be overcome.”
Wow, what a philosophy! It made me think of all the people who would like to move forward professionally and to break out of the self-inflicted box that they have built around themselves over the years. However their comfort zone and the “frozen state” in which they find themselves ensure that they are not able to do so.
Aside from what I learn from my daily conversations with professionals, it has come to light that there is too much unhealthy and unfair competition in the work place and on the job market in general. Best friends, colleagues and bosses, all driven by selfishness, egoism and short term perspectives tend to forget about their values and what really counts in life. They grab every opportunity to put themselves forward and neglect their colleagues, friends and the environment and this has severe consequences.
The “Parkour” formula to move forward believes that there is no obstacle in life that cannot be overcome. Take the courage and “smash the box”. By adopting a bit of “Parkour” attitude: “No obstacle is too high, no space too wide and no wall too steep” you are sure to progress.
Why not make it a personal philosophy i.e. have the confidence that there is a way through for everyone by “believing that through camaraderie, self-expression and service to others, there is no obstacle that cannot be overcome.” So don’t work against each other, but work together. Look to the future. The future could be so much better if it were to be built by sharing, achieving, supporting and indulging in each other’s success.
Take the courage to…
Go it alone if you can and if you are not able to do so, let me know, as I believe in moving forward together…(Let's talk)
